Just Be A Man About: A Convo About The Perception of Black Men in Relationships EP. 77
Hey Y'all
Back w/ another conversation. This time the topic comes from one of listeners wanting to hear us DIC down and explore the our thoughts on the perceptions and expectations of black men in relationships and under societal gender norms. For example ( via the abyss that is the twitter verse): Does a black man sleeping on his stomach make him less of a protector? Does having a nose ring/ septum piercing mean he's gay? These are the stereotypes and expectation we dive into in the episode.
I promise...this episode isn't the dissertation it sounds like. Listen in on the convo, give the topic a thought for yourselves, and let us know your view!
The agenda for this episode:
As always, is to DIC’ it down, which stands for:
Define, Impact, and Cope
This conversation we define what "gender norms" and "masculinity" are to us, discuss the our perceptions and interactions w/ masculinity, and decide how he would like to cope going forward.
We make each section clearly know so that you can follow along and have this conversation with us, with others, with yourself, so feel free to pause where you see fit to give you time to write, journal, or just reflect…or just keep listening…do you!
Oh, and if you vibe...we tribe!
